Nearly twenty-five thousand homes in south-east Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on the start of the week after powerful weather events impacted the area, producing powerful gusts topping 109km/h.

Homeowners observed giant hailstones reaching sizes of 7cm in particular locations. Meteorological experts confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Utility workers were working to restore power throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews activated to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.

Emergency response teams handled nearly 600 emergency reports across the state, mainly for structural issues but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

Damp conditions were expected to linger along significant areas of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
Tomorrow was predicted as the wettest day, with continued thunderstorm potential expected across multiple regions of both states.
