The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Anger Regarding Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Updates
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as size 20β22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: previously, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
