Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Fighters Party

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within the urban setting.

Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team includes Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

With 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.

This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise started the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his own means, entering the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.

Casimir then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd close behind.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires retribution.
  • The adventurer has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous place.
  • The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their status as key figures in the influential clan could assist the party reach locations they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, Teor pledged a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:

  • Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The cleric defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This leaves them little choice but to head to the remote area in search of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Seekers and Planners groups.

Fans can expect discovering which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
